AI Reveals What The Kardashians Might Look Like 'Without Plastic Surgery

A group of live streamers employed artificial intelligence (AI) to show what they imagined the Kardashians would look like "without plastic surgery."

The Twitch show Vandahood Live creators wanted to see if artificial intelligence technology could forecast what Kim Kardashian, Kylie Jenner, Khloe Kardashian, and Kourtney Kardashian would look like if they hadn't changed their appearances.

Nearly 2.5 million people viewed the TikTok video clip released by Vandahood Live, which revealed how AI technology was utilized to depict the famous family "without plastic surgery." The streamers, who have worked in visual effects in both video and 3D, claim that the video was created in a week.

"We used three separate AI software and two different regular graphics applications, as well as a full week," Keith from Vandahood Live tells PetaPixel.

"We had to adopt a different technique for each member of the family because they all changed throughout the years."

"For Kylie, we used Deep Face Lab for two days to train an AI model of her face before surgery and set it to match the proportions of her current face. "We then manually reduced her cheek filler as it moved outside the areas of her "before" face in Adobe After Effects," he says. "Finally, we graded and matched her natural skin tone with DaVinci Resolve."

"With Khloe, we used Deep Face Lab again and created an AI model of her face before surgery and set it to match the proportions of her current face. "I then ran a few frames via Faceapp to generate her original bigger cheeks before running those frames through another AI called Ebsynth to apply it to the entire video," Keith says. "Then, for the original skin tone, DaVinci Resolve."

"We educated Kim and Kourtney on Deep Face Lab and conducted some minor repairs and skin tone corrections in DaVinci Resolve," Keith says.

Vandahood, Keith, Ahmad, and Divy Pota like to "push the bounds of AI for amusement" on their show Vandahood Live.

They said their AI experiment with the Kardashians "was really just out of curiosity and to see how effectively the tech could pull it off. There have been numerous disputes about the Kardashians' influence in the TikTok video comments section, with individuals either opposing or defending them. But for us it wasn't so deep, it was all purely for fun purposes," he says.

"AI is just starting, and it has a long way to go." but the future of entertainment will almost surely be AI heavy," Keith continues. "This new realm of AI has made it feasible to perform things that were before impossible. Every month, a new AI tool capable of astounding feats seems to be revealed."
