Darius Hulea is an artist who sculpts portraits of historical figures out of metal wires

Darius Hulea is a sculptor from Romania. He uses metal wires to make portraits of famous people from history. Darius can make his sketches of historical figures come to life in 3D using industrial metal wires. Without a doubt, his metal wire sculptures are impressive and unique.

Hulea knew at a young age that he liked arts and crafts. His grandfather worked with farm tools while his grandmother made traditional geometric fabrics. This gave him the idea to combine craft materials with industrial ones.

He said, "I learned in my second year of college that the great artists of modern history used the idea of drawing in space or drawing space through different metal structures." Some, like Picasso, used things that had been used before, while others, like Calder or David Smith, used things from factories. That was the turning point for the sculptures I make now. This kind of drawing reminds me of the sketches of Michelangelo and Da Vinci, two of the most famous Renaissance artists. They are serious, realistic compositions that anyone can understand.
