An Artist Made Beautiful & Amazing Pixelated Sculptures With Wood

Han Hsu-Tung is a Taiwanese artist who makes pixelated wood sculptures out of this world. Even though the artist has been carving wood for 35 years, it was in 2010 that he focused on making pixelated wood sculptures.

In Han's works, the wooden people and animals look like they are breaking up into pixels and are all mesmerizing. The artist says, "I want to show how digital technology affects people through wood sculptures because digital technology has a growing effect on people." So, I try to use wood blocks to imitate the image on the computer screen, which I found very appealing."

Hans also says, "The process of making this woodwork is complicated and requires precision. It always takes a long time to make, but I hope I can find a new way to express myself through woodcarving."
