We can all agree that fashion designers have always chosen attractive, generally beautiful, and physically fit models to model their wares on the catwalk and at other non-traditional fashion events. These models have set high criteria for being more exquisite than the average person. They have purposefully contributed to forming a disparity between what models and genuine real-life people look like.
However, as a society, we are developing year after year. So it's no surprise that many large corporations and modeling agencies have recently begun to feature many differently-abled people as part of their brand, providing more accurate representation on runways and magazine covers.
We want to introduce you to Sofia Jirau, a 24-year-old Puerto Rican model with Down syndrome.
